Can I do 2 20 minute cardio workouts instead of 1 40 minute workout and still get the same effect?

I normally try to do a 40 min cardio workout 3-5 times a week. However, I am often strapped for time afterwork now with the kids being in school. I am wondering if instead of doing one 40 minute cardio workout if I did two 20 min cardio workout in a day would I get the same weight loss effect?
Yes you can, however I think your meal timing is also of importance here.
If you are performing Low Intensity cardio, it’s best to have your glycogen stores fairly low prior to your session.
I would set it up like this:
1st session – 20 mins a.m. fasted LI cardio
2nd session – 20 mins p.m. LI cardio with no carbs 2-3 hours prior to session
If you are performing medium or high intensity cardio sessions then I think the meal timing is not as important.

If you have difficulties with weight do what I did – try acai berry. If you want to lose weight its superfood qualities help loads – however those same qualities also help those who are trying to bulk up. Great! There’s a free trial happening at the moment at http://pitash.fatburntoday.info , give it a try, why not?

Given that it takes 10-15 minutes to get warmed up enough to go hard, that doesn’t make much sense, plus you’re taking twice as many showers, changing clothes twice and doing twice as much laundry. Not very efficient if your whole objective is saving time.
FWIW, 40 minutes every other day isn’t enough to have much weight loss effect.

It takes about 15 minutes for your body to start burning fat since the first 15 minutes you are burning your readily available carbs. Two 20 minute sessions will lead to about 10 minutes of fat loss compared to if you are doing 40 minutes straight which would be 25 minutes of fat burning. By the time you got to your second session of cardio your body will have replenished all its carbs and the whole process would have to be done again. Stick with 40 minutes.
