You can do crossword puzzles OR just whenever you see words try to switch the letters around and see what other words are in there. It's a good memory exercise.

Also play those games kids play where you look at something and then take it away and see how many objects you can find. I Spy Books are fun (I am middle-aged and I still look at my kid's I Spy books from time to time!) or play Concentration with a deck of cards--turn them all facedown and then turn up two at a time and try to remember where the pairs are. Warning: You might feel REALLY STUPID at first, especially if you were good at this stuff as a kid, but you can improve.

Lastly, after you've been sitting on the Internet, do a few exercise that cross from right to left; e.g., touch your right toes with your left hand and vice versa. I recently read that this gets the two sides of the brain back in sync with each other, which doesn't happen when we are on here.
References :
1. answer math problems (even just the easy ones but time yourself so your brain will work more)

2. try doing puzzles and riddles

3. sleep well (you should let your brain rest so it could function better)

4. don't watch TV shows that focuses on stupid characters and other forms of stupidity (chances are you'll subconsciously adapt to the stupidity you are exposed to and you don't want that to happen)

5. don't rely on the calculator too much
References :
do crosswords. start with easy ones if you are no good at them. And try hard, don't cheat, and try and finish them! Soon you'll do better and better, and do harder ones. it's a good pastime, and a little addictive, and great for writing and speaking better!
References :
it happened to me

Get a book of logic problems. Thinking abstractly helps you remember facts and details better.
